Did you know what you wanted to be when you were young?
I did, cause I wanted a son. Or anyone.
I could love and cherish and raise well.
They could cry into the night or grow to raise hell.
Hey - I had patience and a mountain to give
So imagine my elation when found that I did-
Bring in a life into one little wondrous kid.
This - love filled child brought my life to a skid.

In a good way. If that wasn’t enough.
Just a few years later brought another to love.

A little one from the sky above, she made two.
She was fed up from her world and ready to stay true.

So. Two beings of light to raise.
Tea parties and butterscotch pie for days.
_And before - I could say - my skies were gray.
In the blink of an eye, their lives were wiped away.

The pain never ends but it dulls.
The strain from the gap never fills when you fall.
But if all that you were - were scared to love.
You would never know. And there's the rub.
I would rather lose and feel - because an ounce of the joy - only improves the will.
Even in the dark of night a pierce of light - can warm.
It’s a guide in the fierceness of the storm.

That joy embraces your soul.
That joy is the memory taking control.
That joy fights the ache, it's making you whole.
So take the leap, and don’t be afraid to keep hope.

And hope is the path to truth.
Never loving again only collapses you

So it is said - Nothing in life’s for_certain,
Save face my child - remain determined.

So it happened again.
Another child from the sky made my happiness end.
It’s like - no matter the path - still they walk away.
No matter the will I have - nor the words I say.

But this one was a little bit different to keep.
He was quietly kind, a little patiently deep.

And I could see his smile bright when I set him to sleep.
And he’d think about his path every step of the feet.

He was different from the six before. I could tell.
When we battled in the hall, him only to mean well.

And if he fell, I could never take it again.
Every single one failed, and I hated it then.

But

There was peace in his eyes.
Strength in his heart.
Gave him reason to fight.

And even though I let him go, quite knowing he’d die.
He convinced me - at the least he had to try.
